Hi all
I just have a couple of minor questions regarding the career mode rewards: Firstly, what do you have to do to be promoted yourself? I have sunk everything that floats from a fishingboat to a battleship, and my overall tonnage is something like 9x more than the skipper in 2nd place. I would have expected a pat on the head by now, but I'm still the same Lt. Commander I was when I started in 1941. Secondly, when it comes to getting a new sub, is there a historical limit on when you can recive them? I'm looking forward to getting a Balao, but my current career is in 1943 - would that be too early for the class to be available, or have I not yet merited it somehow? Thanks for your attention and any info you have would be appreciated! |

You say that you have sunk every vessel available, have you also completed every mission and called the finished missions in to command? They will then give you a new assignment before you return to port. I have read in this forum that just completing your initial assignment and immediately returning to port is not as well rewarded as calling in for additional assignments while still at sea

well, on my last career war patrol I completed 8 missions, I tried to get more but When I called in I did not get any new objectives, so Im not sure.
I meant that I've taken every oppertunity to sink any enemy ships I've met, I cant claim to have sent the entire japanese navy to the bottom of the ocean, obviously. I just thought sinking numerous carriers, two 34 ton battleships and lord knows how many destroyers might make the brass impressed or something. |

Yep, Im keeping the settings easy, so I dont have to worry about fuel atm.
Though if what ive read for the crew also applies to my career skipper, the easy setting would give a lot less xp (or whatever the skipper promotion requirement is). |

Your promotions are based on renown, and IIRC the renown you get is calculated like this: difficulty percentage/100 * renown
So if your difficulty level is 50, and you sink a ship worth of 300 renown, you actually get: 50/100 * 300 = 150. |

![]() Concerning your second question: I'm in mid/late 1943 and just got a Balao, so the chances are pretty high that you'll get your pretty soon. |

Actually you DO get promoted, it's just that there's no direct way to track the rank. Only effective way is to look over your log book for promotions and know initial rank.
