Default The digital data gathering - nightmare for private sphere

A documentation worth to be watched by any internet user. Be aware it is 2 hours.

"Big Brother, Big Business": http://www.googlonymous.com/ (A CNBC feature)

About Google: after time index approx. 55 minutes.

I dare say it is frigthening. Makes Big Brother looking like an amateur.

And this (German), about Spock.com. Surprisingly it is difficult to find a critical essay about them in English language. Might be caused by the extremely low standard of data protection laws in the US, compared to other Western nations.

http://www.welt.de/webwelt/article10...e_anlegen.html

Quote:

Nah, I can do that job my self if I like.......*googles name and email*

2 Results for my name....and it's about someone else!
1 Result for my E-mail...and it's my business page!

Loads of results for "Letum" but 99% are not about me and the rest are fine with me...after all, that why one uses a pseudonym.

Happy days!

You haven't watched the film. If you think your pseudonym is hiding enough, you are totally wrong. Your IP is out there. It is enouh to identify you, loink your identity to profiles of habits and behaviuors you showed duzring shopping, credit card transaction, queries, internet behavior, eventually your movement patterns inside accordingly equipped stores, etc.

Or do you want to tell me that you can manually find and delete all those tens of thosuands of data bits abiujt you that you have left behind so far? not even talking about that certain companies intentionally hide from you the fact that they have a file about you, or that they actively try to resist to delete that data.

Etc etc etc. Just think about it. It is a nightmare. Trying to deal with that in private only leaves you stranded and lost in a giant desert. You have no chance.

Or do you not interact with your bank and governmental offices? No credit cards? Cellphones? IP numbers of your PC? Payback customer cards?

Face the fact that you are already have been turned into a man of glass.

It is from a few year back. Now I use a private proxy. Not 100% secure I know, but it might make things a little harder for casual observers.
