Default GWX and the Kiel Canal

I just started my GWX Campaign (1st Flotilla, SEP 39, in Kiel). Of course the harbor traffic is fantastic and much improved over the stock game.

And puttering down the Kiel Canal is nice too, especially the suspension bridges. However, I can imagine that will get old soon. Is there anyway to hurry this transit up (other than just TC, which I know I can adjust with SH Commander)?

Most of the time I just head north hugging the coast, usually find some norwigean ships to sink and get credit for, then head over to patrol area north past scapa flow. Never go through the channel lol.

The short answer is NO.
If you want to speed your way through, have a couple of Gin and Tonics before you start and you will crash into something and have a speedy end of your patrol.
I know I have tried it.

Allso remember that raiding a harbour is a bad idea after a night out with mates. Charging surfaced at HMS Nelson shooting at it with my deck gun didnt last long.

While cruising through the Kiel Canal tonight I went and read to my 2 year-old son, said his prayers, and got him down to sleep.

When I came back to the game I was only halfway through.

Maybe I need to transfer!

The simple answer is 'NO'......the canal is the quickest route. I'd suggest you do what you have already referred to, namely either transfer or twaek via SH3 Commander

Conversely, you could start careers out of Wilhelmshaven... and skip the canal altogether.
