Default Storms and ASW, GWX

Hello,
If there is a serious storm going on, will ASW efforts be hampered? Especially ASW aircraft.
Early in the war, there is no radar to guide asw a/c, but would visual searches be disrupted?
Also, does the amount of surface noise interfere with sonar, or is it modelled?
thanks

I have had escorts pass within 450m of me on the surface in heavy storms and not detect me.

Yes, on second thought visual hampering is moddelled(I forgot about the set depth 7m and attack a convoy in rough weather). I am now wondereing about the overcast clouds and submarine detectability. If there is such a thing as calm seas with overcast clouds, would those clouds hamper visual efforts to detect a submarine on the surface?

If you have problems with the weather, there is a weather modder that starts when you fire up SHIII commander...that way you can choose your weather, at least for the start of your mission.

Stormy weather does make the boat less detectable.....windy weather with nice waves makes for happy hunting! No use of the deck gun regrettably...

Oh, by all means, no. I'm not having any problems with the weather anymore. I d/l the weather mod and got into some serious problems with SH3 Commander. But I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of everything(except the weathermod) and now things are peachy keen.
I am reading "Wolfpack," an Osprey Publishing book(I think) and in there is written how a Uboat commander orders the deck crew into action because the sky is overcast and, therefore relatively safe to conduct surface engagements. Just curious if this is modelled?

I don't know, what I do know is that later in the war, when the Allies started to use centimetric radar no U-boat is safe on the surface, overcast skies or not.
