Interesting. This boat hasn't even been here even a week, and I already got an order from it.

It has been a long time since I was on the boats, but I heard they put it in the bug juice.

What did they order?

Without getting into it - Just some small stuff, but it was unexpected.

You are somewhat correct - I am a systems admin, domain + exchange + IIS, etc., but yes, one of biz's my company is in is high pressure - 6000 PSIG class if you care to know. These boats use the best stuff money can buy. An example is if you ever get a chance to tour one of these boats, (I've only been on a few Tridents in a past life/job where I used to sell test gear like VXI/VME, but I have seen cool things like test plugs being fired from torp tubes which is very loud, and I have driven the Navies sub simulator that is on stilts out at Bangor) the metals they use on board are almost like gold. Large pipes made out of perfectly polished shining stainless steel, even Monel which is pratically worth its weight in gold (well not that expensive, but still very expensive - NiCu for those chemists among you). Take a tour of one of these boats if you get the chance - it is worth it!

Anyway, getting out on a tangent now.

Reminds me of the cool job I had ... Topside watch on an FBM submarine in Rota, Spain walking back to the aft deck to check the draft. I had to walk down the middle of the 16 tubes with all of the hatches open right before we went on patrol one time.

I knew what was on top of those nose cones and they respected the 45 cal strapped to my waist too, because they didn't make a move.

Seriously it was a hoot ... We had lots of algee on the sides of the hull at the water line and these big sucker fish would be eating the stuff.

One night I was so cold, we were next to the sub tender Holland and I made a little tent next to the sail out of plastic wrap and five gallon paint drums that were just sitting there for some reason. It was the mid-watch and I was cold.

All of a sudden I hear the creaking of the gang plank from the tender and I run out of the little tent just in time to see the captain rushing onboard in a hurry saying, "Carry on".

It was fun ... the memories are still intact.
