Default Generate new Intelligence Report

Hi all, I don't know what happened, but first I cleared off the navmap the contents that were generated 6 days ago. I tried to generate a new Intelligence Report with SH3 Gen, but no go? Why not?

Need Help.

To generate a new Report you need:

1. Save the game.
2. Exit the game and go to desktop
3. Run SH3Gen and load the game you just saved (the savegame file I mean)
4. Close SH3Gen and run SH3 again
5. Load the save game and you will see your report.

Hi Mel.

Thanks a bunch, I did all that. but you know what was wrong? I have several installs and Gen was not pointed to any particular Silent Hunter So I put in the route and everything was okay.

I tried. I have a VIIC and it's Aug '40 and I came across a convoy and could not sink a darn one, the fog was so thick.

Dont worry Rob, I know a lot of casual users (in the office and at home) who are having problems understanding the use of files, folders, executable paths etc. It might be frustrating but once you understood how it works you have moved a big step forward.

Its the price you pay for the convenience that comes with Windows - I noticed that its much more natural for people who grew up with MS-DOS, and who had to learn to shuffle their files around, at least until Norton Commander appeared.

That's true actually. Although I'm more of a Unix fan myself. Too bad you cannot play GWX on Linux

Hi Mel and GlobalExplorer.

I just used up all my torpedoes and was heading back to Kiel when I receive a message that my base was changed to St. Nazaire. but I look down where St. Nazaire is supposed to be and it's not on the map, only Lorient is.

What's up?

Actually... with recent Wine you can play just fine. I am. With SH3 Commander, mods and everything.

Two-three gotchas:
- Grid map (AN44, etc.) is garbled. Easily worked around by having a paper grid map. Everything else about the map seems to work just fine.
- GWX 1.03 has crashes when starting campaigns, for some weird reason. Some hours of painstaking testing later, I found that stock SH3 and GWX 1.02 both work just fine for me. (probably Wine's or my fault, not the fine GWX creators)
- You must have a very current Wine. 0.9.38 or latest from git.

Oberleutnant z. S. Waldemar Wolgast of the U-13 is currently pondering preparations for his seventh patrol, off Hartlepool, in March 1940. Wonderful game. My first serious stint of ship hunting since Silent Service II...
