Default [TEC] Question: .dat files

Does anyone know what program I can use to edit the .cam .dat and other files related to camera views? At the top of some files it says created/edited by Kashmir, but after looking it up on the net, the closest match seems to be a 3D landscaping/mapping tool.

I really really want to edit the camera files to fix/add the missing crew member view positions.

In SH3, I used to love lounging around on the AA gun deck, but I can't do that in SH4 without actually sitting in the seat.....And how am I supposed to see what's off to starboard if I can't swap places with the watch officer?

I've heard 3dpack is able to open those .dat files... I might be wrong tho'

-----------------
EDIT: My bad, it doesn't work for SH4 (but worked for SH3). But you might get some ideas and some more support in this thread:

Good luck

a lot of people would "kill" to get their hands on the Kashmir tool. But this one was most probably programmed by the SH devs for their own use only and will NEVER be given to us. So, the only way to edit these files is a hex editor.

As triggers will be needed to call this new cam/crew member position it won´t be possible, I think, to add some. The only thing you can do is adjusting.

never heard of this tool. But as I´m still with SHIII I´ll give it a try.

I noticed the missing camera view stations from SH3 are still viable within SH4, and after testing them, I found 4 that are allready linked. The camera viewpoints are in odd places, because they were not being used, so didn't get adjusted. I also found 8 other possible viewpoints that might be used.....

I'm worried that you might be right that the editor will never be released.
