Again to be fair. It sounds ironically that these people are responsible law abiding gun owners.

Its the parent who gives the baby the gun yet doesn't inform the authorities I'm worried about

I worry about the adults who don't have any kind of basic weapons-safety habits, permit or not. Responsible parents are capable of teaching responsibility to their children -- irresponsibility generally goes the same way in my experience. I don't see what the big deal is. If anyone has read the article the dad said teh gun will stay at grandad's house till the kid is at least 14.

Sounds pretty responsible to me.

Good point.

The way I see it is, people who think this way are really too immature to own firearms themselves and this is simply a cover to explain why they should not own firearms without stating the obvious. A form of passing blame to everyone as cover for their own misfailings. If Sigmund Frued were here, I think he would agree with me on this one.

The idea that the government should be the only entity to have firearms scares the hell outta me.

The people need to be able to defend themselves in case their government becomes opressive. Hence, the American people need to be able to obtain firearms.
