Iron Coffins by Herbert A. Werner.
If you loved Das Boot but wished there was more ship sinking in it... Then this book is a must read. It's a true story taking you from Captain Werner's NavalAcademy to UboatSchool and into his first combat patrols and beyond. It gives you an authentic feel of what life was like on a U-boat and Tactics they employed against the enemy. Found it at my local Barnes –n- Nobel. |

I agree, great book. I have just started U333 The Story of a U-Boat Ace by Peter Cremer, hoping that will be just as good.

Not the best on the subject but a good book nevertheless.

Good book, quick read. Very hard to put down and gives something into the world of being a uboat crew in ww2. Told straight from the mind of an actual uboat commander.

U Boat Ace (story of Wolfgang Luth) by J. Vause and U Boats at War (a first hand account of a U boat sailor) by H. Busch are both good, too.
