Hello people;
I've arrived at the point with my stock SH3 installation where thoughts like "Oh god, here we go again..." and similar reflections are beginning to surface as I load up the game for another boring session wandering empty seas. So I've decided to look into installing one of the super mods that I've been hearing about. After wandering around the forums for 10-15 minutes trying to find out where to go and what to do and getting spaced out and glassy-eyed, I thought I'd ask if there's a post somewhere that gives a one-stop rundown on how to install either one of the super-mods (or both). I'm referring to the GWX or the NY...something or other mod that appear to be talked about the most in the forums. I ask because I have a vague memory of stumbling across just such a post several weeks back. I know it's out there; I tried the search function and got dozens of returns and am beginning to climb the walls trying to find it or something like it. So, anyway, I thought to hell with it; I'll just ask... Thanks. |

The GWX, which adds a ton of content and a bit of realismcomes with an install program like professional software. I seem to recall it's an InstallMaker utility. This means that all you have to do is patch SH III and install the thing.
NYGN, which is, to my knowledge, more of a realism mod. I don't know how to install it, but it probably has to do with JSGME, which you can download from somewhere on the forum.

@ Greystone
Click on my sig for everything you need to know about GWX. ![]() Most support and all new content for NYGM has now ceased. WAC is also available, you can find the thread about that in the MODS section.

Concerning your main question: NYGM installs via JSGME, while GWX does it via its own installer. NYGM can thus be easily removed, while GWX will require a clean reinstall of SH3. However, once you install GWX there are 99,999999% chances you would never go back again to vanilla SH3 (Well probably even more than 99,999999%:hmm: ), so don't let that be an issue. For NYGM install: Go to the sticky in this page, dowload the full NYGM 2.5 pack and put it into JSGME "Mods" folder inside SH3 main directory. Then just enable the mod. It will take a while, so be patient. For GWX install: Download all the separate parts of it, put them to a folder. Click on the installer and point to your SH3 directory. The installer will do the rest. Once you are done, copy and paste over it the latest patch (1.03 if I remember correctly) That's all. Well, not all....now kiss your friends and relatives good-bye for some time, your guaranteed to be glued to the screen for some weeks ![]()

Thanks for sparing me the tedium of figuring out where to go and what to do. It's not so much laziness as cluelessness. Appreciate it.
![]() I had to laugh at your parting comment, Hitman; I'll make sure I tend to my final affairs and say all my goodbyes before starting my first patrol... |
