Hi, sorry to create a new topic just for 1 question but I would like to know which file to modify to change the sinking time of boats ingame?
I have download mod flavour to taste wich is very good but I think the time ships take for sink is too long and I often spent torpedo to accelerate things... I hope you will understand my English... ![]() ![]()

If you think sinking times are long in FTT, you should have seen them in NYGM!
![]() The increased sinking time accomplish's three things in terms of gameplay. - adds to a percieved sense of realism. Ships in reality, did take awhile to sink. - increases time at which wounded or crippled ship is "alive" and sending its SOS, which in turn increases your likelyhood of an ASW encounter if there are any units nearby. - lastly, it prompts oneself to use more ordinance. Which in turn is one factor of many that translates into the user obtaining a closer to history record tonnage score. On the otherhand though, really long sinking times are just bloody annoying. So the trick is to get longer sinkings, but not get out of hand with it. I think ive achieved that balance, but like the mods name implies, its just a personal taste. Everyone's different, so theres a fairly accurate readme as to what changes went were so you can change it how you like. |

mmm... I have tried to understand by myself how to change this setting but I would appreciate your help !.....
![]() ![]() For example: [CargoLST] Multiplier=1.000000 Flotability=30.000000 HitPoints=60 Destructible=No Armor Level=-1 Critic Flotation=0.300000 Critical=No FloodingTime=59.999996 CargoType=None May I chave to change "floodingtime" or "critic flotation"? I think it is the first one but what was the old values in original file? That would give me an idea to put the setting at the half (beetween old and actual values)... Does the value for "critic flotation" have been changed too? I think, sometimes, wounded ship stay too longer with their bridge under water. I think it is not possible to have bridge under water more than 1/2 hour and don't sink... It is a personal taste. And a last question: Do you know what the setting "Destructible=No" means please? ![]() Thanks for your help !

FloodingTime is the variable your after.
Do not touch any flooding time with a value of " 59.999996 " Those need to stay put. Its all the other flooding times on the various ship components your concerned with. For example: FloodingTime=360 or FloodingTime=180 All i did, was take the stock flooding time value, and mulitiply it by 3. So stock values for those are: 120, and 60 respectivly. The easist way to go about reversing the changes would be to scroll through the ship parts section in the zones. cfg and make note of the flooding times in notepad or something. Then go back and divde those times by 3. They should come out to be an even number, each one. Then go back to your zones.cfg and do a find and replace. For example: Find - > FloodingTime=360 Replace with -> FloodingTime=120 It would be best if you used the "replace" button when using the find and replace function instead of "replace all". As i think, but im not sure, that some sub flooding time values may match values used on ships. So you could inadverntatly speed up flooding on your own sub if your not careful. Easiest thing would be to check the uboat section of the file to be sure, as "replace all" can be a major time saver. |
