Default SH4 German files!

I've been looking through the files and folders in my SH4 install and have found loads of direct draw surface images with german pictures (dials, recognition book cover, crew faces, medals etc etc). Does anyone know why they are there? Is it because SH4 is a progression from SH3 and the developers haven't bothered to delate these files?

Have a look in SH4/Data/Menu/Data at some of the DDSI files and see what I mean

This is not news.

They are relics from SH3.

Have fun !

Thanks for the info. I wasn't suggesting for one minute that I'd found something groundbreaking, just simply curious as to why the files were there (just thought that I should add that my answer isn't meant to sound sarcastic). Strange that some of the graphic files from SH3 are of much better quality than the ones from SH4. The German medals, awards and maps for instance are gorgeous.

That's wierd. Why would there be a ton of old German files on the disk?

Surely they aren't so lax that they'd not even bother to delete the old stuff? Wowsers.

Not quite sure what OP is supposed to have fun with though. Bizarro comment there.

Basically SH3 was the template for SH4 hence the left over files. I guess house cleaning was not their big thing buuuuuuuttttttt......the modders are very familiar with SH3 files and it makes it easy for them to create mods for this game

Ooooh. Intriguing. Potential for a SH4 based Atlantic campaign. Thanks AVG.

Its simple really.

It takes alot less time and effort to leave those relics than it does to pick through them and delete the ones not used.

As to having fun obviously the OP enjoys digging through the "guts" of the program. I was giving him good wishes and hope he continues to dig.
