We have been betrayed

My fellow kapitans I have grave news to report, I spotted coming out from English waters 2 medium cargo 2 large tankers and 1 small cargo and no escorts for Dec41 and it looked like jackpot but as I closed in I could not believe my eyes. Italy is a traitor, trading with the enemy. I was so out raged I sunk them all without any pity what so ever.

I am disgusted by Italy are so called Allie.

Are you sure it wasn't Ireland? ... The flags look very similar...

EDIT: or maybe Mexico?

I doubled checked that possibility and anyway on sinking them they were all marked blue on the map.

I need a strong cup of tea.

I don't believe Italy was a member of the Axis yet in Dec41.... or were they? The "Free " Italians were Allies and maybe you sank them? Too bad you can't tell the 2 apart the way SH3 is setup, and they snould have different icon colors so you know who's who. .

I am now calm, wow this game really draws you in. I shall put it down to a strange glitch and hope never to see that again.

Yes they were, Italy entered war in June 1940

Never heard of Free Italians (like Free French). After the Armistice of 8 September 1943, Italy joined Allied side (but was not given the status of "ally" but of "co-belligerent"). In the Norther, German-occupied portion of Italy, a puppet-state, "Repubblica di Salò" was founded and given to the formal leadership of Mussolini, they fought with the Germans but their Navy was very small.

But were you awarded renown for sinking these ships? What does a blue icon mean? (I have always played with map updates off)

Sunken ship in blue=Allies (These ships were not in my book )

I lost renown for that but I don't care as I am not interested in it, I got my own system.

Hmm, strange. Had the same thing happening when i was on my way back from us waters in sep. 1942. Came across the exact same ships. 2 large tankers, 2 medium cargos and 1 trampsteamer, and no escort around.

I dived, picked the two large tankers and sank them from about 3000m. While the two went down i got closer and noticed that none of the ships was armed, so i surfaced to train my deck gun crew a little bit. Watching the shells hitting the waterline with my binoculars i saw that they were all irish!

36000 tons of neutral shipping. I consider sailing to argentinia as i surely will face a firing squad when coming home...

I have encountered neutral ships that weren't lighted at night.
Down the go!
