What do you think about this boomer? Are her overall characteristics comparable with "Ohio", "Vanguard" and "Le Triomphant" classes??? |

From the photos I've seen of the concept scale models, her hullform appears similar to the Delta-class, but with one screw instead of two. However, given she is around a decade newer than any other SSBN currently in service, I'd expect her to be at least as advanced, but likely more so. She's definately smaller than to Ohio class (~19,000 tons submerged, with 12-16 missiles, vs. 24,000 tons submerged with 24 missiles), but comprable or larger in size to any other country's SSBNs, and again, probably more advanced.

As far as i knew ohio's were 16,000 tonnes surfaced and 18,500 submerged also at only 560 feet in length (typhoon being 562 feet), in terms of similaritys more delta shaped single screw and i doubt its true parameters have been put up there.
Boery has taken so long to build alot of its components could already be slightly dated, i dont hesitate to think that it may even have the new waterfall displays the akula II's have (well gepard and vepr)

Is it to be a launch in the conventional sense or merely a lowering?HMS Astute is due to be launched in June-she will actually be lowered in front of some vvips and then later taken back out so all the missing kit can be put in!

To think that Western nations transfer money to Russia's deconstruction of rotting nuclear subs - while they spend their own money on building new nuclear subs... We could pay their new subs in the first. Would be less complicated.

You could yes but then dont you think the russian admiralty will say hmm money new ships lets have 12 carriers 16 cruisers 50 DDGs and 2000 other ships and 150 new submarines?
what it costs to scrap two old subs just about covers the cost of a new one.
