I noticed that the sound man report bearings in a non-Navy fashion... He will report the bearing 003 as "Three," for instance, when he should say "ZE-ro ZE-ro THU-ree!"
Actual instructions for reporting bearings in the WWII US navy can be found here: http://www.maritime.org/fleetsub/sonar/chap8.htm#8A Good old SHI had some cheesy voice acting, but they did get bearing reports right... It occured to me to try importing the SHI bearing report sound files into SHIV, but I don't understand how to work with the SHIV .ogg files. Somebody smarter than me ought to make a sound mod to fix this! |

We should ask Neal if he could record some of the voices, he's got a real good radio voice that you can understand well.
I can just hear him now...........NOW HEAR THIS ! ALL HANDS AT YOUR BATTLE STATIONS...........AND I MEAN NOW!! :rotfl:

Maybe I will take a stab at importing the SHI files myself if I can figure out the .ogg file thing... I've never made a mod.
I have taken a quick look at the SHI speech files, and they are .raw files - I thought they would be .wav. I guess I will need to find a program that can convert .raw files... Also: The SHIV speech directory has 9 numbered folders that all seem to contain identical sound files (at least judging by the file names). Does anybody know why there are 9 apparently redundant sets of files? Last edited by Loaf; 04-07-07 at 05:50 PM. |
