Default [REL] SH4 Japan Recognition Manual v2 NEW

NEWS!

New version 3 released:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=111339

-----------------------------------------------------------

Attention on deck!

Here is a new and improved version of my Japan Recognition Manual for SH4.

Info on the original release is here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=109672

Changes in v2 include:

- Improved the cover
- Fixed the porked flag dimensions
- Reflagged the merchant marine to match flagging in game
- Deflagged most of the coastal vessels (they do not fly flags in game)
- Added a Credits and Permissions page

Download v2 here: http://www.speedyshare.com/932295267.html

Since the initial release was so well received, I have decided to expand the manual to cover all vessels modeled in the game. Like the Japan manual, it will follow the vessels shown in the Museum. This will include appropriately allocated merchant marine and coastal vessels for each country. Several Allied countries will be grouped together, to reduce repetition.

If you can think of any improvements to the format, please let me know now, before I get too far into the complete manual.

No promises on a completion date - the real world occassionally manages to get in the way of this kind of work.

That is all, sailors...dismissed!

Very Nice!:p

Have you read the thread about the in game 3D model data /Config information is actually different from the stock manual?

There is a list here with the real numbers so that you get accurate ranges when measuring the Mast height , or Ship length and draft... from CDJP.rar I cant find the OP Krupp also posted on this...

Thanks - I will have a look through the rest of the data files and try to get the correct data for all ships (or are these the only ships where the data is different?)

Adding length and width to the data in the manual seems to make sense. I will poke around in the data files and try to extract for all ships.

Ship dimensions found it. Maybe it does not affect those in your Manual.

Length is very nice for those who like to compute TDC data with other methods.

I just corrected the cfg files with the figures found on the website thats all. If anyone is working on this indepth..even better. Im not sure about the others ships.
I guess it is only these ships for now...and they still need verification. Those numbers I think were taken from the Config files from the game data -does not mean the in game 3D models are the same either.

But it was determined and proved the printed manual values are indeed wrong. Using the Config data numbers, the range was correct using the Stadimeter in game 3D.

If you do this work -you have a better Recon Manual than what Ubisoft screwed the Canadian out of (plus USA only got the poster -I wanted the EU booklet type Manual but too expensive to ship over here 100 USD ).

That's exactly why I am doing this.

So, I was wrong eventually? Damn, I was so sure that the cfg-values were wrong ones (and somehow it's still hard to believe otherwise). But hey, good to know that it wasn't the game that had faulty data.

No, you are not wrong. I quoted the data statement backwards sorry. I just wanted him to know that the values are suspect and maybe it would be good to add in the ships length too.

It was late and made a mistake. It should be the other way around. But who knows for sure about the ingame 3D models?? I am glad you guys are working hard to get the true numbers.
