Keep HQ informed of your status. Send regular status reports back to HQ.

Search patrols last 48hrs and destroy missions have minimum tonnage required.

I am still hesitent to send contact reports from my SH3 days. Always afraid of the dreaded "Be More Aggressive" message... I'll have to start doing this in SH4.

Is there any other way to send report without opening that darn clipboard? Takes forever to open it.

Thats because you have a large amount of contact data in the message log. Do the change to your contact range file so that you only get info for close contacts (like 250nm) and you will not get the message log filled up.

Here is a link to the thread telling you how: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108959

Martin don't hold me to this, but I think I read on here somewhere that if you stray too far from the Binocular icon once you reach it, SH4 "resets" the counter that determines when your patrol is complete.

For instance, if you have to patrol the area for 48 hours and the counter is up to 36 hours (only 12 hours to go) and you then sail too far from the icon, it resets to 0 and you have to start again - sail back to the icon and patrol another 48 hours. Don't remember what the distance was, maybe 50 or 100 miles.

Like I said, maybe I'm getting confused with something else? But I think that's what I read. Wouldn't hurt to draw a 50 mile radius circle around the patrol area with the compass then stay inside that circle for 48 hours. See if the mission ends after 2 days.
