Default SH4 Gameplay Question (from a newbie)

My question is- if I just want to patrol around and fire some torpedoes, how complicated is the process? I'd like to work my way up to more detailed and complex proceedures, but keeping things very, very simple at first would be nice.

Does SH4 allow you to turn a lot of the technical stuff over to AI and allow you to fire the torpedoes?

Look forward to hanging around the forum beyond just lurking.

Welcome to SubSim!

When you uncheck the Manual targeting thing from the realism settings, you just need to lock on to the target and shoot. The AI will do the calculations for you.

Thanks! Sounds like I can pretty much "point and shoot" until I get comfortable with handling the TDC myself.

Despite some of the ranting, I am really excited to get a copy of the game tomorrow. I couldn't get into SH3- but I love the Silent Service ops in the Pacific, so this is the game I've been waiting for.

Thanks again!
