Already been some cool work done on this so far - see this thread:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=100840&page=1

I'm using that iced Type VIIC now in the North Atlantic in February '44 - very nice looking indeed

Of course, it could use an even heavier coat of ice on it, and somebody really does need to do some iced-up foul-weather crew clothes to go with it as suggested in that other thread - now that would be truly awesome

The only problems are the fact that when you surface after being down for a while the ice would be melted! also it would depend on the time of year, location of patrol & the U-Boat your using. Would still be nice though!
If only you could get it to grow on the boat in sub zero temperatures only - not asking for much!

if my assumptions are correct, you can add an object that dissappears under water, such as the df antenna in gwx.
I'm not sure exactly how to do this, but it would give me something to do for a couple weeks ;]

Cobalt, There were doubts about the 41,... and look at the open hatch mod.

Mate like you said, the other is a skin only, to have the ice hanging from the guns and wire also would be that much more realistic looking. Also the disapearing object should work as you said.

Give it a go mate and put an end to all the doubt's
