Which of the S-class boats will be modeled?

I was looking up submarine information on Wikipedia, and according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...lass_submarine, there were four different Groups of the type. Does anyone know which one the game will model?

Hard to say, unless they manage to have the different performances for different types. One I'm certain won't be in there is the tiny handful with the stern tube; which surpisingly was the one that was in SH1. Fortunately Hawk's Silent Hunter Utilities fixed that.

I think it will be Group III, because I've read that the S-class subs in SH4 don't have a stern tube.

Looking at the characteristics of Group I and which ones were lost during the war, I think this Group makes the most sense to model (although one could also make a case for Group III).

Could be, but that would be the oldest of the whole class which is probably not so good while being depthcharged.

True, but, looking at the list, the Group Is hold the top spot for number lost during the war. Not a good thing, of course, but that leads me to believe they were the most numerous ones of the class in the Pacific at the outbreak of the war.

Here's the list:

Group I: Lost 12 boats in totall,1 was scrapped between the war, 5 boats were lost during WWII, 6 were given to the Royal Navy

Group II: Lost 6 boats in total, 2 were lost at sea between the wars,4 were scrapped between the wars ,0 were lost during WW II

Group III: Lost 1 boat in total, 1 was lost during WW II

Group IV: Lost 3 boats in total,1 was scrapped between the wars ,2 were lost during WW II

We can see that Group one lost most boats during the war which suggests that they were rather unsafe and not fit for the war. Group III lost only one boat at all which makes me believe that this class should be modeled.
