Default OT: A lesson learned from drinking too much while playing

Does anyone here drink alcohol while playing? This isn't a thread to argue whether drinking is good or bad for you. I was just wondering whether some players here drink alcohol while playing. Just recently I was playing War in the Pacific as the Americans and I had drank quite a bit of Japanese sake. Well, the date was Dec. 11, 1941. My Enterprise carrier task force was racing to Wake island to defend her from a possible Japanese invasion. I accidentally came across the Japanese Pearl Harbor carrier strike force. My carrier task force didn't have a chance. The Enterprise, along with one of my heavy cruisers were sunk from heavy air attacks. We were close to Midway island, but my Enterprise carrier couldn't make it there before she sank. A note to all commanders of SH4 and other games, be careful how much you drink while playing, you might regret it!:rotfl:

I have been literally wasted after a night out on the town and have sat down to play DW, but I never came close to being as intelligent, decisive, and quick to react as when sober. You should play a flight sim, like IL2, and see how that goes!
Also, 1st person shooters are pretty funny while drunk too.

Oh, PS. never drive drunk! I once asked a police officer for a ride home, I was pretty soaked to the gills. I tried it again and the officer laughed at me. I do ride my bicycle drunk sometimes, but very slowly and very carefuuuuulllllllyyyyyyyy.
PSS, I dont have a car, I live downtown and everything is within walking distance from my apartment, so driving drunk is not an option, nor should it ever be an option.
Sorry for preaching, but drunk driving is frowned upon by me.

Maybe that's why the convoys keep zig-zagging. They were too drunken to drive straight.

Default Question & Trivia about Enterprise

Hello nvdrifter,

I had seen a list of ships that would be in SH4 and looked specically for either a the Yorktown Class of Carrier or my favorite, the Enterprise (CV 6) and did not see either listed. :hmm:

Are you actually playing SH4 and if so, is the Enterprise actually in the Sim?

The history of ships names Enterprise has always fasinated me, and yes that even carries in to Star Trek.

Somewhat off Topic:
Here's a fact most are not aware of. Because of the demand from Star Trek fans to name the 1st Space Shuttle Enterprise it was so done.

What the Star Trek fans were not informed of was that the 1st Shuttle was to be the Trainer with no engines and only a full size glider and fly piggy back (now on display). NASA originally wanted to name the 2nd Shuttle (1st to fly) Enterprise. Doh
Star Trek fans after they found out -->

Hi GSpector. No, unfortunately I am not playing SH4 yet. The game I was playing is called War in the Pacific by Matrix Games. It's an extremely detailed strategy game that allows you to play the entire length of the Pacific War as the Allies or the Japanese. It's unbelievable how much detail is in the game. Every sub, aircraft, ship, ground unit and base that ever existed is modelled in the game. I would recommend it to anyone interested in the Pacific War. The game is available as a digital download with no online activation required. And no, I don't work for Matrix Games. I just highly recommend it because it is such a great game.
