Default Modding SH4 might be easier than some people think

Modding SH4 might be easier than some people think. Modders have learned a lot from modding SH3. If SH4 uses the same type of files and they are also accessible, then SH3 modders can use their experience and should be able to mod SH4 quite easily. Hopefully some of the hard-coded files from SH3 will be more accessible in SH4.

That would be nice. It'd be even more open if they release the SDK, which basically lets you do what the devs do. Fingers crossed!

It might be harder as well It all hinges on if they still use text files or not, and if there are more internal glitches like the savegame bug or hardcoded stuff or less. We will see ..

I'm willing to bet a few of the devs have tried GWX with SH3. I think much of what was hardcoded wont be, if they can help it. And I sure hope they fixed the savegame bug, it was quite a major gripe when it came out

If things need modding at the release do we ask for hard coded things to be patched and do we have a thread asking for things that are hard coded to be fixed . What i mean is do we concentrate on hard coded things that need to be fixed in a patch once people figure out what cannot be easily modded . Could a group of modders from this site get together and officially request hard coded things to be included in a patch . We need a plan and tactics . What do you think ?

Its too late shuting the gate when the horse has bolted,

Q: VikingGrandad: Is SH4 being developed in such a way that it will be even more open to community modding than SH3 is?

A: Definitely. We've took a hard look at what the community has modded on the game, plus stuff that we wanted to be moddable ourselves. Whatever we could improve, we did, and we won't stop here

I found this quote from one of the SH4 developers on Ubisoft's website. It looks like SH4 will overall be more open for modding than SH3 was.
