Files for navmap icons - where?
Hi, where can I find the files containing the graphics in the navmap and TDC - map contacts, sonar lines, etc.? RUb kinda replaced them with much more realistic and less informative ones, and I kinda prefer the original more informative and less realistic stock SH3 map graphics. Thanks in advance

Most of them (circles, squares, diamonds triangles etc.) are in the \SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\Gui\Units folder. Sonar lines are in the \SilentHunterIII\data\Menu\Gui folder (Contline.tga, I THINK Dashline too). The ship and airplane-shaped icons at high zoom levels are in the individual ship folders \SilentHunterIII\data\Sea\shipname\shipname_shp.tg a AND \SilentHunterIII\data\Air\planename\planename_shp. tga
I don't know much about RUB, but if its JUST a matter of restoring the original .tga files (and I don't know if that's the case), there is a mod for GWX that restores the original icons that you can adapt. You would probably just need to delete the subfolders in the \Sea and \Air directories for ships that don't exist in RUB: http://files.filefront.com/GWX_Conta.../fileinfo.html RUB is getting a little long in the tooth. Is there any reason you're using such an old mod? I would recommend one of the newer supermods GWX or NYGM or WAC depending on your taste. Last edited by Steppenwolf; 03-08-07 at 12:51 AM. |

I'm kinda pissed off (sorry for the language, but yeah, thats how I feel) at the huge DL sizes, with which my crappy internet connection can't afford - RUb, mercifully enough, was given to me by a friend... he didn't have any of the other supermods, though.

Two possible suggestions.
Some people with slow connections have downloaded GWX via bittorrent. See this thread for an explanation. http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...hlight=torrent There is a link to the GWX bittorrent download at the top of the GWX homepage at http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/ I haven't used bittorrent myself, so I can't be of any help here and don't really know how effective it is. Alternatively, many local libraries and universities have high speed connections that the public can use. You might be able to dowload one of the mods there and be able to burn it to a CD (depending on their equipment and policies of course). |
