Default Faces of War - a hidden gem

I dint like the demo, so I didnt get it until now. I loved the old Soldiers: Heroes of WW2, but now I have to say this one is good as hell too. you just have to play a few missions before it sets in.

Some screens:

My Panther opens up:

Noooooo!

Some entrenched Tigers:

This one was really cool, I blasted my way through a building with 10-15 Sherman 75mm shells to get at some troops on the other side. The physics are incredible.

Havoc!

Very cool pics! And a very good game! But I HATE that the P-51s landing-gears are out! What the hell????

Yeah, all this time I have been playing Company of Heroes, but this is more to my liking. The annoying squad-control system is optional after the patch, by the way. I like it when I can control each individual and really micro manage! Love this!

I hope this game has all your forces in place ready to fight and
your supplies come from the rear (like they should in real life).
COH had it just the opposite...

There is no base building in FoW, what you have is what you get. Loose the nice big tank, well then its gone. I love this approach, like in the good old Blitzkrieg.

You sometimes get reinforcements, though.

(Dont get me wrong, I think Company of Heroes is a great game too, but this is more "real")

The music in FoW is dreadful.
Voice acting is so-so, I liked the half-humerous voices in CoH more.

American paratrooper: I hope the jerries don't mind us "dropping in"!
And when you press the units one time to many....
"yeah what the F*ck do you want?"
"What the F*CK DO YOU WANT!!?"

But I still miss voices á la Warcraft III.......
