Default what is a snorkel used for please?

hello Community.tis me, paws, only now I have a new ID, as you can see, and my own Avatar ( she is prettier than me). I took the advice of Albrecht as I felt it was misleading for me to have the masculine avatar that comes with the rank, and I wanted a name that gives a clue to my gender so no-one chats with me thinking I am a lad and then gets embarrassed when they realise I am not.

I am in the third single mission and am gently challenged as to how to knock out the second attack boat that comes for me ( the first one I nobbled with a bows-on hit the first try, wowee!). That is not what I want advice on however - I will find out how to do it, eventually, I expect.

The snorkel - what is it for? I wondered if it is to get fresh air in, when the fumes are getting too strong for the crew to live comfortably.

Also there is a little wooden-looking triangle aerial thingy on the deck, looks like it could be good for drying socks on when topside, :rotfl:but I am sure that it has a much more serious use than that - sonar or summat?

thanks as ever

hi the snorkel is used underwater so you can use the diesel engines and save the batteries. you raise the snorkel so the diesel engine can "breath"

The snorkel. Possibly the best bit of kit your boat can have. Raising this will allow you to run your diesel engines whilst submurged. And yes it will also give the crew fresh air.

Wooden "Triangle thingy", sounds like you now have a radar detector, alerting you to the presense of radar equiped allied vessels and aircraft.

Can't help you with the single missions I only play careers, sorry.

Nice black and tan wolf by the way, she looks very similar to mine.

Default Snorkel

It's an air breathing device which allows the Diesel engines to "breath" under water, with this equipment you can do about 12-13 knots underwater with the IXC whilst charging your batteries

Myxale, that looks a very interesting page. I have bookmarked it to go back to later, but just skimming it made me want to read on. Thank you
