Blinding those searchlights

How about a mod allowing you to blind those searchlights at night with a flak and MG attack?

Would seem realistic to blind your opponent and prevent that lightsaber from pointing you out to all the rest on the surface...

Can it be done??

That would be nice, but I'm sure it all comes down to the damage model and hitpoints....

Just hit the structure supporting searchlights , a couple (depending on the type of "support") of shoots with the dg and you're done.
Anyway why do you want to do that?, It's easier to aim at night when the target is illuminated :rotfl:

I have used the AA gun to shoot out searchlights many times.

It is still early in the war and I usually surface approach lone merchants. Once I get within 1000m I order my deck gun to open up and i man the AA gun. I can usually shoot out the searchlights.

Of course i don't expect to be able to do this in a convoy or after the Happy Times.

That is what I do vs an unescorted merchant.

Perhaps there is a damage model problem in my game

On encountering a Passenger liner off Spain I surfaced as it was an Italian ally. As we came abeam he illuminated my boat with a huge stern mounted searchlight.

Having just recently run from a successful attack on two merchants I knew a Flower was still chugging our way at 10 knots. Beiing pissed at the idiots illuminating our boat I ordered the Flak guns manned.

Taking control I laid into the Searclight with a twin MG but to no effect. We were only a few hundred meters abeam so I couldn't miss.

Needless to say the searchlight did not go out even with multiple strafings...

So are you sure you can MG them...

Certainly using the DG and eliminatng the superstructures does turn them out but I find using my HE ammunition of waterline shots more to my liking than superstructure. The light MG's should turn of the arclights but so far they do not..

Have tested this several times now...

You may be better off doing as Ref suggested above
