The sinking of HMS Hood (WARNING: Contains many pics!)

That was the best patrol ever: On my way back to home base I encountered the Home Fleet! That was really cool.
I was a bit annoyed because I had only sunk 2 ships with only 3 k GRT when my watch crew sighted many warships in grid AM 31. I went down to PD and found that the Home Fleet was coming down on me:

2 Southampton class cruisers
1 Illustrious carrier
2 Nelson battleship
and HMS Hood

I patiently waited until I had a perfect AOB and fired 4 torpedoes at HMS Hood. After a few seconds the impacted:

1st torpedo

2nd torpedo

3rd torpedo

4th torpedo

After the 4th torpedo she lay pretty much dead in the water, with her port screws standing still and her rudder jammed.
I crash dived and got detected by the destroyers, but they lost me befor they could do any harm.
Meanwhile the fleet run for their lives.
As soon as the destroyers were gone I rose up to PD again and gave her a coup de grace (starboard bow). I guess I have ruined the career of the Bismarck:

Back in Wilhelmshaven my crew got tons of medals and I was instantly promoted to Oberleutnant z.S. and all that happend in 1939. How freaking cool is that? Thank you guys for GWX, SH3 is now even more fun!

Thank you! There's one thing I forget to mention: The game told me that I was targeting HMS Rodney, but SH3 Commander says that it was HMS Hood. I know that the Hood substitutes HMS Rodney and HMS Repulse. So, did I think HMS Hood or HMS Rodney?:hmm:

Manual TDC?
Yes, but it was easy because it was 90° angel of attack and the range was at about 800 meters. A blind man could not have missed that ship

Anyway, good job. If you used manual TDC (I use auto TDC and trying hard to learn manual TDC), even better!!!

Re: Hood

Congratulations, but thanks for ruining our chance for gun practice.

Regards,

From the crew of Bismarck.
