To be able to answer that, we're going to need to know a bit more!

1. What version are you running? Stock SH3? What patches have you applied? Are you running any mods?

2. Computer system specs.

3. What were you doing when the game crashed?

I'm taking a wild guess here.....you are fiddling with the stupid small square buttons on the lower right side that when pressed either submerge you or surface the boat and a few other things. Do not press these, known bug that makes you CTD. The repair boat button seems to work as it should. This is just a guess.:hmm:

Right on! I never use them anymore; they are a certain way to CTD!

Don't want to confuse the issue, but I use them all the time and have never had an issue with them. Gotta love consistency.

I know sometimes they work and sometimes after hitting one you are looking at your desktop. Take your chances........

Re: Message #2:

1. I am running patched version 1.4b w/G.W. 1.1a, latest ver. of SHCommander, and Sh3Gen. In addition, I downloaded few new ships, etc.

2. My desktop has 1GB of Ram, Geforce FX 5950 Ultra with the latest drivers, Win XP 64.

3. Usually the game crashes when I am in the navigation map just cruising along with time compression to 2048 or 1024.

I have seen suggestion to turn down the sound acceleration via dxdiag. It helped me for about one mission. My game crashed during the next patrol.

I am not sure what you are referring to by "stupid small square buttons on the lower right side."
The crash usually happens when I am at the Navigation Map just cruising during the patrol. This system break down drives me CRAZZZZZY.

Thanks you all. I am open for any suggestion.

These are small square buttons that show an outline of the boat under water or surfaced, cracked in two for damage. These button can reek havoc. Perhaps it is your TC rate. The ships you added, perhaps the cause? When spawning perhaps these added ships cause the crash? Did it happen before the add ships?

That aint cruising along thats hyper speed! But your problem could be many things, i dont get crashes now not even one, that bug by clicking on the repair square doesn't even happen. yet thats after many new installs and just getting it right. Running GW1.1a, SH3Cdr 2.6. This is time consuming but i would reinstall the game (just save your game saves) found in my documents - copy them somewhere else then delete that folder.

Also make sure theirs nothing running in the background before starting this game up.

As a first step, I would suggest that you don't use 1024 for TC. Try with 512 maximum for a number of patrol and see how it goes. Secondly search the net for a freeware program to test your memory banks. Corrupted memory is often the case for CTDs.

I sometimes have CTDs myself in the navigation map. It usually happens when I drag the map around a lot. I believe this is a known small bug in SHIII. I say small because it doesn't happen very often.

Sh3Gen adds hundreds of new objects to your map, so I suspect that might increase the probability. But I can not positively confirm a connection. And as I said above, it doesn't happen often.

Some general tips:

If you're having BSOD's or reboots, a tip from me is check your temps, and check if all hardware (cards, cables) are firmly in their sockets. Last summer I had a serious reboot problem because:
1. my northbridge was running hot when in the summer months, which I could fix by actively cooling it. I also installed a complete new set of 92mm fans for the whole system, and it's now almost as cool as a fridge.
2. my graphic card had become loose during transport - that turned out to be the most serious problem, because it crashed my comp randomly!

Some other tips:
Reinstall your OS and drivers, then create an image. That way you won't have to put up with a crappy installation, and can always overwrite it with a clean image. I also advise you to use swappable hard drives, so you can have several configurations at hand.

Then of course, check the usual hardware/software tips around on the internet.
