Default CTD

Hi All,
I have SH3 with 1.4B mod installed. Had to start again due to a reinstall. The problem is it keeps CTD as soon as it is installed. This happens to both installs I have. Could it be because I have no service packs installed on XP?
Any help much appreciated.

I doubt SP2 has anything to do with it. How far to you get into the game until CTD? If if is CTD on the opening UBI videos as some have had, get rid of these in the program files. Let us know. Plenty of folks here to help you out with it.

Did you say you had to reinstall XP, if so did you do a FULL Format or a Quick one?

If it was a quick format then I suspect that you have residual files left over from your previous install.....

Quote:
Ok, here goes...

1)Uninstall SH3 completely (includes SH3 folder in My documents + Program files + Registry entries (if your happy doing that))
2)Reinstall SH3
3)Patch to 1.4b
4)Run SH3 once (just to make sure it works + to create SH3 in My documents folder)
5)Carry on....
This should work. I've just copied & pasted from a GW installation CTD. The basics are the same. If it doesn't then I suggest a FULL Format during XP installation.

Good Luck

Well why haven't you installed the service packs? I'm not saying that's the reason, but I installed them a long time ago as most have.
