Torpedo missed???? Possible bug??

Running patched vanilla..

Started Patrol 23 last night & all was going well.. Sank a few ships in crummy weather and was constantly forced to crash dive since my watch team (Qualified and solid green bar) could not spot planes until we were getting strafed Dang Bernard!!

Picked up 2 contacts in a line. One C3 and a Small merchant. Plotted my approach and got in a solid position for a beam shot at 500 meters.. Let loose an eel set for 10 meters and fast.. 20 second run time and the action camera showed it going underneath the keel and explode. The periscope showed the explosion and the ship rearing & settling.. Sonarman announced "Torpedo missed" and sure enough, C3 hasn't slowed down. Adjusted my angle and sent another eel, this time set for 3.5 meters and impact.. It hit with another tremendous explosion followed by another missed report from my sonarman (Qualified and solid green bar).. This went on for 2 more torpedoes. Both Steam & electric.. C3 never showed damage or slowed down.. I shot one fish into the small merchant & even though I got another "Torpedo missed" report, she still went down & I got that credit.. Anyone know what's up with that C3?? I just saved and exited the patrol at that point.. I searched for a possible thread, but couldn't find an answer..

Thanks..

That is a new one on me. I do believe that the magnetic needs to be around 1.5 or less from the keel. Then again, I only use impact only so I really can not give you a good solid answer here.

It has happen to me in the past in the stock game and in GW. I don't know why though but you still get the credit for the kills

I saw all four explode on the C3 but it never sank or slowed down.. The small merchant sank from one torpedo even though it was reported as 'missed' and I got that credit..

Out of the 4 eels fired at the C3
1 steam set for mag & 10 meters
1 electric set for impact & 3.5 meters
1 steam set for mag & 3.5 meters
1 electric set for mag & 11 meters.

3 exploded mid ship. 1 exploded near the stern. Usually a stern shot will knock the peops off. All were fired and hit within 5 degrees of abeam. She just changed course and kept firing the deck gun at me.. If the wind wasn't 7 meters/sec. I would have chanced using the deck gun to see her burn..

Thanks..
