Default GW and Naval Academy

After a long break from SHIII I finally reinstalled the game and included TGW mod. I like most of what I see so far and decided to get reacquainted with the game before starting another career.
If the rest of the game is like the naval academy, I shall be lucky to score any renown before I'm retired or sunk

Navigation - excellent
Flakk artillery - excellent
Naval artillery - not good enough 1st time, satisfactory 2nd time, excellent 3rd time.
Torpedoes - see naval artillery.
Convoy - after the last 4 I did well enough on my first attempt to score excellently.

Only thing I need to do is restart my career and not use the Kiel canal as I'm currently struggling along at 4x time compression with about 5 hours RT to the north sea hehe- at least the scenery is nice.

Just use SH3 Commander 2.6 your beable to up the time compression for when near land. Depending on your machine specs you can go from 1x to 2048. I have mine set to 256 when near land.

groovey, does SH3 Commander not interfere with TGW?
I think I DL it from subsim recently but never installed it.

No SH3Cmd is a totally stand alone program and has no effect (bad one) on GW. Just don't forget to set up the TC values again after you clear the canal.

No it doesn't interfere at all. Don't forget to review the readme file b4 installing. SH3 Commander is a must. Plus you can turn off fatigue with it.

Deck guns are not as effective with GW1.1a as with Vanilla SH3 in an attempt to be more realistic, FYI.

Thanks guys.
Yer, deck gunning is a pain in the ass now on the naval gunnery excercise I waited for 3 days for that medium cargo to sink. Having previously sunk the oiler and all of the small merchants or tramp steamers or whtever they are called, that medium caro badboy refused to go down, despite listing badly to port with many below the waterline shots from the deck gun. I can't help feel that if I'd been a little more economical with the oiler I'd have had enough rounds to put that cargo dude to the bottom. Still, I got him on the next attempt

I'll have a look at SHIII Commander later I think

It adds greatly to the immersion and has some nifty features to customize all manner of things such as crew fatigue, time compression and other functions within SHIII. This is one great little program that is the icing on the SHIII and Greywolfs cake.
