Designing a scenario where an Akula has to track and trail an Ohio SSBN coming out of Kings Bay Georgia.
Golas to follow as such. Detect Ohio Get with 4000 yds. Track boomer for 2 hours. Trying to work out the goals and doctrine to make it work. Also can be played from the aspect of an escorting FFG-7 Golas, detect intruder, Ward off Akula. Need help in setting up the goals to get the akula to bug out if detected by FFG. Cheers. Want it to be realistic though mission will be a bit long. |

when i finnish work tommorrow i shall see what i can do, ive only ever trailed 2 ohios in game they are very quiet and also hard to get within 400 yards as they generaly detect you before you even hit the 10 mile mark (hence why i collided with one)
Il give it my best shot il be home about 1500 possibly later i dont know but il see what i can do.

An SSBN probably wouldn't be escorted by an FFG. Those are for the opened ocean. Inland, they'd probably use something like a Boston whaler with an M-60. I read in Submarine Warfare in the Arctic: Option or Illusion? that they might create a "delousing" station, where they attempt to detect and ward off any potential trailers. I'm not sure what they'd use to do it, though. If I had to guess I'd say a P-3 or DDG. Mostly, though, SSBNs will probably be on their own, just like an SSN. The range of Trident missiles makes for a vast potential patrol area, there in lies their real stealth.
