I've been waiting forever to have a modern WWII USN Subsim. Haven't played the old SH from the old days much since SHIII with the GW mod is so nice with visuals, and gameplay. But I think SHIV will be a nice suprise.

When SH4 comes out, ill 7zip all my mods, burn them on a CD, uninstall SH3, stick the DVD back in its case, place it on a shelf with the rest of the shelf fodder, and essentually drop it like a lead brick, and i doubt ill ever look back at SH3 ever again. The only way id go back is if some major patch or expansion pack was released that fixed some of my biggest mood breaking pet peeves. (IE, radar improperly mounted on the front of the Conning tower, and inoperable fuel gauge on the IX uboat )

Agreed!

With GWX i will play both games. SH3 Normal, and SHIV when SH3 bores me (Or crashed again ).

I will be getting it. My grandfather was a WW2 vet. He was on the carrier Enterprise durring the whole war. I have a strong historical knowledge of the pacific theater as far as the Navy goes.

Since I have more than enough hard drive space (4x250 gig Sata drives) I will keep my SH3 loaded with GW or in a month or so GWX and play them both. Once the new wears off the SHIV, if it does, I will go back and play SH3GW. Just depends on how many MP servers I can play on with others I know. It will also depend on how many MP mission there will be. From what I have been reading, there is to be a controlable destroyer, so that will be fun. Matching up online sub vs destroyer.

I like patrols and such, but I do those on nights the wife is working at the hospital on the weekend. That is usually one weekend every 6 weeks though. I like quick patrols online with others I know from here. More fun that way. Plus, with the use of my Ventrilo server it realy adds more to game play when you can talk with the guys you are playing with and get to know them better.

Well I'll get it but probably not straight away. I admit I am the sort that sits around and waits for nuts/enthusiasts such as your good selves to highlight the bugs and demand a patch. Then I'll come along and buy a cheaper copy of the game and download the patch and carry on my merry way. With a bit of luck there will be a mod or two released as well.

Does that make me a bad person??

That sounds like me; and since I didn't get SHIII until last January, I'm still getting the nuances down - haven't played late wwII yet at all. But I am looking foward to the Pacific Theatre. Although I wonder how they will make the game moe chanelleging as your career progress: The Atlantic Theatre just automatically progresses this way.
