Default A Tribute

A tribute to what i think is the worlds best diesel submarine, the oberon class.

The best submarine for more than one reason she is quiet and still in service with chile giving it now over 40 years of service, the Oberon class SSK.

Great value for money they were and one of the best defence aquisitions that Australia has ever made.

Served our nation well for many years before being replaced by the Collins class.

Oberon is a great sub class, and definately deserves props as the best western diesel sub, but IMHO, the ultimate diesel is the 641B Tango class. It's really big and really capable, too bad it was never exported!
The Oberon probably gets the edge based on its operational history though.

I am told that the Oberons used to have a twisting motion whilst underway-I would rather have an Upholder as they are a lot quieter.
