Default Flags on subs in SH4

Is there a mod for put US flags to subs in SH4? (I use SH4 plus TMO plus RSRDC). A mod similar to Flags and pennants for SH3 (activated by SHIFT/CTRL + F).

Many thanks and regards.

Let's ask the "jap-gang"!

Two questions:
- where to find the flag node???
- can it be made to be enabled (show/hide) by a command?

"Beast Below" had some Fleet Boats with flags not too long ago if i remember correctly. (If I'm mistaken on the author don't shoot me!)
Now the T-Class British boats have flags I'm sure of.

Default anything?

TheDarkWraith made this possible in sh5 @ this post: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=167037

I tried converting his Sub Flags over to sh4 by simply edit/changing his files
from the VIIA -over to- VIIB however the only changes that actually showed up in game was his flagpole cylinder model part of the conning tower the flags themselves didn't show up at all probably because there is no
submarine parts folder dir tree in sh4 that some file is referencing to..

owell i tried.. any rate hope someone figures this out as I would like this
in sh4 as well.

I was looking at the possibility of adding flags to conning towers the other day. It seems like a simple operation of extracting the proper flag/model from the dat it currently resides in, cloning it, and importing it into the Conning tower dat file, and positioning it. After that, it'll need a visibility controller so its not visible underwater.

I might do it later, but not right now, i think its out of the scope of a "patch" (which is all I'm working on right now) and more in the realm of being part of a full update, given the number of conning tower objects and cumulative file size's involved. Besides that there's another item i was considering for conning towers, so if i do it, ill do both at once. Later....MUCH later.

And instead of coupling it to the "submerged-status"-thingy it could just as well be linked to a key?!

Default A broom

Wasn't there a tradition about lashing a broom to a sub 'mast' to indicate a successful patrol (i.e. a clean sweep)?

If the flag appearance can be modded, can the same be done for a broom? Just curious.

Just swap them out.

Take a copy of the British.tga flag (or whatever it's called), put it into the folder/file the Jap.tga image is in. Delete the Japanese flag......rename the British.tga to whatever the Jap flag was named.

======================

This is quite an old thread, I'm assuming Fitzcarraldo has found by now that yes, flags can be put onto subs. Many mods have this feature.

Funny about the Broom.......there is one modeled in-game. The model is in the Sensors_sub_US.dat file (along with the radar covers that were never implemented in-game). The trouble with both, a script has to be made in order to tell the game what to do with them. Since we don't have access to the hard coded files........no script will be made. Thus, no use of the models of a broom, or the radar station covers will occur. Well, the broom could be made to stand up in the corner of the conning tower, but that's about all we can do with it.
