Diving time of IX boats within SH4?
Just got the idea to test my crew and made a crash dive. Well, the crew is godlike. 10 seconds after the command and the IX-B was underwater. Tested it without any mods, then only RFB, then only TMO. It's the same. After 10seconds I'm underway to the deep deep poor freighters ever sunk here.
The real diving time of the IX Class was at about 38seconds. Whats doing this? Have tried it with: - original - TMO + OM v301+patch - RFB + OM v301+patch - TMO - RFB It's still the same. Anyone other have the same problem? |

It's a stock 1.5 issue. No mod is the cause of it.

I have noticed this as well with the IXD2 in SH4. Don't get me wrong, in a pinch... very cool!! lol
But historically speaking, utterly bogus... Slowing down the crash dive time would probably mean changing the dat file or the sim file... forget which controls the crashdives and ranges and other such things... Am leaning toward the sim file... stoopid memory not working right... I dare say there is a way to slow it down. |

In the SHXsim.act files references are made to the DiveBT.
SH3 does not list this in the IXD sim. Try removeing the reference in the SH4 sim file. |

Anyone had any luck with this lately. I noticed it also when I got the game. the U-boat is underwater in less than 10 seconds. And I can surface in about 5 seconds! It is really out of control.

Just tried a bit. You have to drastically lower the flood values, to something around 20 or 30 to get anywhere near realistic dive times. With 35 I got almost 30 seconds with a IXD2, but that is still too fast.
Apparently, for game purposes, the ballast tanks of the german boats are only 1% of the size of the fleet boats!

Sorry for extending the thread, but I was wondering what is sonar reflection of type IX, compared to VIIc ?
When allied escort is scanning in GWX 2.1 - is it any more reflective object (more visible) compared to smaller type VIIc ? Any combat experience ? Any direct reply form the "pack" creators ? :hmm:
