Default Torpedo wire control

I have fired a few torpedoes and let them go out a few KY, but why have I still got control of the wire when the torpedoes are past 90 degrees to my side? I was reading that you can only have control of wire torpedoes up to 60 degrees either side, is this incorrect?

60 degrees in the game or in real life? Are you running any mods? If so, is the 60 degrees specified for the stock game or a mod?

Ah I meant in the game, I did some reading from a steam guide and it was noted that torpedoes would have a limit of 60 degrees either side of the sub, anything more and it would break, but that must false information in the guide?

A couple of passages from the manual I found:

Quote:
Wire breakage while a torpedo is running can be minimised by;
- moving at slow speed
- keeping your submarine level
- keeping the weapon within a 60 degree arc of the bow of your submarine
Quote:
Generally, the greater the shot angle, the more likely the wire is to break.
So I'm guessing it's more advisory rather than the absolute limit.
