Ahoy! Newbie asks permission to come on board...
Ahoy everybody!
Despite my age, I have first discovered sub simulators about a year ago. I got so tired of FPS games and I never even played any of those overdone RPG's. So I gave SH4 a try and thought: Well that could be something... Game pace and intricate strategy - you kinda have to put in the work and time to get some results. PLUS: I'm a pipe smoker - and those long missions give me ample opportunity to smoke. I own only 3 submarine simulator games: SH3 - GWX 3.0, SH4 with the U-Boat Missions and SH5. Right now I almost exclusively play SH3. As to other games: I like strategy games: Played the whole Settlers series, I like DEFCON and certain games from the Total War series. Thanks for welcoming me. Good hunting! /Yoshiki |

Yoshiki, welcome aboard!
DEFCON is one of my favorites too. Have you played Age of Empires?

sub-standard to say the least. (probably I'm spoiled by 'Settlers'...). I will check out 'Age of Empires'! As to DEFCON: The game is brilliant and behind the simplicity of the user interface 'lurks' a fairly complex gameplay with lots of decisions to be made as the TNW escalates. However - I'd like the map to have more details. I mean: Most launch sites are known to the enemy without radar - and so are crucial targets like NORAD and bases. The only unknowns are the nuclear subs (who are now capable of launching ICBMs) and MRBMs/SRBMs on 'trucks'. |
