I HEARD A RUMOUR!

Rumours says the boys at the 11th Flotilla based out of Bergen are getting a new winter camouflage scheme for their VIIC variants. I heard at the Officers Mess its because they have been task to seek out and close with the Russian convoys to the North, I was told alot of these convoys are using the Iceberg fields to remain undetected.

Apparently the Winter Camouflage Scheme looks superb... but lets see what the crews here think first before we get all excited.

One of the Officers who was up at Bergen for leave actually took a photo of U-657 commanded by Korvettenkapitän Heinrich Göllnitz departing for a war patrol, rumours have it that U-657 is heading to the hunting grounds to destroy the enemy Russian convoys.

Damn the weather conditions around that area would be horrendous...ice, wind, rain, freezing cold days and nights, rough seas...I would hate to be them.

My friend said he has sent the picture in the mail [express] so it should arrive today..I'll head down to the post office now...............

Ven, I hope you won't mind if I say I love your style! I have been "driving through" a couple of your mods over the last few days but I haven't had time to actually test them all in-game yet, although I did try and absolutely love your "Elite Binoculars" and "Sea Floor II" so far. I'm looking forward to trying your new canoe skin soon but this latest VIIC looks incredible. I really apreciate your artistic eye for good camera angles and lighting when taking extra time to do your screens and artistic touches (like say, your intro artwork) too. Most of all I love your stories to get us "immersed" into the game even more; it's like you created a time machine!!!! I think I can safely say that SHIII without a Venatore mod is like being in your favourite art gallery and having pinkeye or some condition where you can't see the great works properly. Or how about like visiting a WWII museum or on board an old battleship without that certain unique "musty atmosphere" you always seem to get? Without it, it is a cold sterile place with no "character". You've made Subsim such a good read for me lately that I'm thinking if you aren't already on Onkel's payroll then you bloody well should be.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I use a completely different Type VIIC to all the other modders, I use only mat colouring in all my mods, and even I've noticed a certain style to my work, which is what I think I was striving for, basically if someone sees a U-boat skin I would hope they would say "Hey that's a Venatore Skin for sure".

Now this put a smile on my face. It's an area that I think gets over looked with many modders when delivering their mods to the members. Sometimes my screen shots can take longer to get right than the mod itself. What has helped me to achieve alot of good shots is the ability to now walk around on the out side of the U-boat. Correct lighting and where the sun is positioned is the overall factor when taking a screen shot, too many modders take shots on the dark side of the U-boat which the end result is a dark blob of U-boat silhouette.

Here is the picture of U-657 from the 11th Flotilla Bergen, this picture depicts her conducting crash action drills whilst on the surface. Her role is to seek out and close with Russian Convoys in and amongst the "Iceberg Fields", hence her new camouflage scheme.

The Russian Convoy Killer

• This mod replaces the skin for the VIIC U-Boat varient.

• I used Konrad Krum VIIC Skin as my skin template, (I was unable to contact this forum member to ask permission, he/her has not been to the forum for sometime. I sent a forum PM & ICQ message asking permission, I nevered recieved a reply).

• I also incorperated/merged some U-Boat files from Fubar skins which I sought permission a while back.

• I have re-textured/re-coloured the entire U-Boat upper/lower body.

• I have merged internal dials to the conning tower dial compartments.

• I have retextured/re-coloured the antanna, radar and snorkel.

• I have re-coloured/re-textured the AA guns and the 88mm deck gun.

• I have re-textured the compartment lids on the deck.

• I have re-textured the GHC microphone array (port & starboard).

• This mod is compatible with GWX and GWX patch upgrades.

• This mod has the correct file structure pathway to be compatible with JSGME.

• This mod is zipped with WinRAR.

• This Skin was created by Venatore.
