Here's a pic of a WWII CPO with the hat and hat device at that time.
![]() I don't believe the chiefs wore collar insignia at that time. I do know the other enlisted ranks did not, so this would be in keeping with that practice.

After looking around I would agree with no collar devices. The collar devices may have been added with the ranks of senior and master chief after the war. This link is for The US Navy in World War II By Mark R. Henry. Interesting reading Note the comments about CPOs wearing dungarees underway.

@LukeFF: I don't know if you have been following it, but you might want to look at what Ducimus has been doing http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...3081056336/p/1

Ahoy seamen,
after reading in Subsim's Forums for years now, i decided today to become a member. ![]() For now, i'm interested if there is already a 1.5 version of CaptainCox's great "US Navy Officer Hat"? As i started to play SH4 1.4 i liked this mod very much, so i would love to use it also wit the addon now. Is there already a new version out or could someone perhaps convert it because the "MARINE.dat" had been changed by the devs. Thanks, midnite1977 |

Nope, no new version. You can use the marine.dat in 1.5, but it will crash the uboat game. The main change that ive been able to see in this file is the addition of the german crew models. So if you have no intention of playing the german campaign, alls well and good. If you want to jump into Das fantasy boot in der pacific ozean, then you'll need to use the stock marine.dat. |

Ive heard hes alive and well, but simply moved on. No long windy speech's, no drama, just simply moved on. One of these days i would do well to follow his example.

![]() And i am back with good news too: After a lot of trying with the excellent "Silent 3ditor", i finally found the changes CaptainCox made to the MARINE.dat. So i took his 3D-models of the (12) officer's hats and put them into the MARINE.dat of version 1.5. The Mod bases on the former "Standalone Version - HAT ONLY" by CaptainCox. So, here we go... ![]() Get it here (Edit: corrected version): http://w15.easy-share.com/1699995649.html Have fun! midnite1977 Last edited by midnite1977; 03-30-08 at 10:07 AM. |
