i decided to collect intel of Firth Of Forth harbour.
on my way thare i got bothered by a armed trawler and a V&W. i sank them both and continuing to the harbour.

edit: reached Firth Of Forth. but not whitout trouble. once your spotted by the enterance patrol (elco TB) you will get some anoying fly's around you.

stay submerged when going to the harbour. coastal bunkers are stationed at the smallest space. once passed this point there is no danger to reach the harbour.
there are NO SUBNETS or MINEFIELDS only a elco,armed trawler and 1 DD at the base
in the base there are large and small merchants also 1 tanker.

edit 2: after sinking the warships you gan go into the harbour to destroy the ships with your deck gun. be sure to be INSIDE at the end. there is a coastal bunker nearby.

I've just been to Malta, but the weather was just too crummy to do anything useful except map the patrol patterns, which I did

also ran in to one mother of a taskforce unfortunately they spotted me so I had to evade contained 5 dido CL, a bunch of escorts, A King George V, the Nelson and the Rodney.

after this I made my way back to tobruk, ran into another taskforce, 2 fiji's this time, sank them both

I'll compile the data on all sorts of contacts later and post it as well as the Malta harbor patrol patterns but right now I'm sleepy and work tomorrow

22 january 1940. hartlepool.

already sank the patroling V&W and almoast at the base.
curently no signs of subnets or minefields.

edit: reached the harbour.

1 patrolling armed trawler

spotted a convoy in grid AN58 in the zoutheast corner sailing south with 7 knots.
it seems not to be guarded so i dont like it...

attacking anyway

edit: I KNEW IT!!! there are DD's there. praying il survive it if i sink the DD's first.

I need two or three volunteers to testvisit the new Contact map project website before it goes beta.

It's just a test walk-around if everything works 100%. If you have suggestions about how it works, that would be very welcome too.
Plus I need comments and suggestions on the text because my English is often a bit basic if not wrong.

To go back to the original 'Happy Hunting grounds' thread...even tho' the new 'contacts' map sounds very exciting and I can't wait to try it out

Got back from a seriously BAD day at work in a foul mood, and decided to give those pesky Tommies what for ! Fired up vanilla SH3 (Apple iMac 2Gig, 73% realism - no manual targetting), and set of in my type 1X, with type 3 control tower (2 zwillings and 1 heavy 37mm which is damned near useless except for fishing boats)

Couldn't be bothered to drag all the way accross to New York - so set off for BF13 from St.Naz as I read here that it had a good tanker lane in it.

However, as I passed Cornwall an Elco PT boat and, a Hunt DD and a V & W got in my way - followed a few mins after by 2 armed Trawlers. I vented my anger and blew thru' them all in a matter of a few minutes (real time) - and only 2 eels used.

The Armed trawlers came right at me, side by side, but my valiant 105mm deck gun made very short work of them, I think about 9 rounds total. Both sank side by side -virtually at the same time. I didn't surface until they were within 800 metres. The 2nd one took a round of HE directly from the bow, about 2 metres above the deck which blew away the wheelhouse, stack, boiler room and the deck gun all in one (lucky) shot. only needed 2 more rounds of AP under the bow, and a bit of flak fire, to sink her. He He!

Proceeded to BF13, but not patient enough to wait for the tabnkeerrs - got onyl a couple in the 3 days I was there. However, the Sunderlands, and few Hurri's, just kept on coming - usually a little after sun-up. Sometimes in groups of 6 at a time - and I think I got all of the last bunch of 6 that came together...

I must admit that I find Sunderland killing really EASY....but my tip for you is DON'T fire at them when they dive at you (maybe 5 or 6 rounds to put them off their aim) - but save your ammo and shoot at the A$$ of them Immediately as they have passed over you, a clean kill almost every time. Works for Fighters also, but for B24's you need to CRASH dive! In all I got 26 Sunderlands and a few Hurri's before i ran out of ammo.

Unfortunately I also lost several of my valiant crew including my Flak gunner of 16 patrol experience, 5 or 6 sailors, and 3 or 4 more killed and seriously injured during damage control. May they all rest in peace.

Not sure why report says no creww lost, as I definitely needed to visit the Barracks and do some serious recruiting when I got back to St.Naz !! Poor old U-69 was alo pretty beat-up and it took several months to bring here back to life from 26% hull integrity and replace 1 gun that was destroyed.

BUT, we dealt the 'Island Monkeys' in their little puddle-jumping airplanes a serious blow today that they won't forget in a hurry ! Hopefully, (thanks to Dowly's vertrieb) I hope that I have managed to post a few screenies below...

PS: I'm sure this won't be so easy in GWX, which I will graduate to in next couple of weeks.

its off to the next brit harbour... this time it is VERRY close to the channel.
i think next harbour is IN the channel :hmm:
(im going arroung england to scout all harbours. started from the north then east and now south)

anyway... off we go

edit: 1 april 1940. Grid AN 76.
on my wat to Lowestoft (to see if its a harbour) i spotted a large convoy sailing SSW at 7 knots.
4 V&W DD's are escorting this convoy. biggining attack

edit2: after a long cat and mouse game with 4 V&W DD's i destroyed them. now im destroying the convoy with the dek gun

Lowestoft has no harbor, It does have the Walls icecream factory right on the coast (been there once) so you can get the crew some icecream

historically it had a destroyer flottilla and several squadrons of Torpedoboats, since it's the most easterly port in Britain

If you go near there, be aware lotsa interesting spiky balls that go boom in that area.

The next harbor would be southend

been at Lowestoft but no base spiky boom balls or a flottile of DD's and torpedo boats.

but im chased by 2 V&W's from a 2 cond convoy for 8 or 12 hours

they lost theyr DC drop thingy but they still are passing me to drop charges


EDIT: THANK GOD AND ALL OTHER SAINTS!!!!!! those 2 V&W's were crashing on my cunningtower... both did 3 or4 times and THEY ARE DESTROYED!!!!! now i can surface and speed up to Willemshaven

don't know when to give up, go home and have a cup of tea, you get that sometimes, it's annoying, you could go periscope depth and try to sink them, just don't get rammed

I'm off to a secluded bay in Crete to reload external fish, then it's back to CO64 to find something juicy to sink with them,

I've only found one convoy in the med so far, and they were Italians, 3 bloody passenger liners and I'm not allowed to sink them, that's just wrong


updated intel on the med in april of 42 later tonight, they do have sunderlands now
