The forts are land units
Though they can be destroyed not sure if you will recieve tonnage for them

Missed every time I tried

The problem is we didn't figured out the entire animation format, although we've made advances, once we have it 100% we can easely add more animated characters.

It is as Ref states. Several of the dev team were interested in placing whales in GWX.
