Go to your Misc. Icon on the toolbar. Turn on the radio which should appear in the upper left corner then drag it down, map of the Pacific showing shipping lanes air patrol areas and minefields.

You can also do a bit of educated guessing - looking at where the major ports are located, one can deduce where ships would be going.

i'm tired to invade ports and sink stationary targets

Try these

First a shipping lane map I found on tinternet, no idea of its origin

Second is the same with my preferred hunting grounds marked in red.

You will notice most are southeast of Indochina. These are Japans new conquests, the ones she went too war to acquire. Think of where Japans new Empire is and where she has to get her new resources from. This is where her ships will be! I have either picked natural choke points or, if you are hunting in Empire Waters, just outside Japans main ports.

@sergei: Wow nice chart, thank you!

However it looks somewhat different from the one that comes with TMO in game.

Does someone know which is more correct? Especially if you use RSRDC with TMO1.7/1.8?

i'm using RSRD with TMO 1.7

and.....

it works!!!!!!!

i was patroling that route to rabaul in bismark sea and found a convoy in that route.
and sunk the ENTIRE CONVOY, even its escorts!

spent all my torpedoes on that

BTW, in late 1943 look like all japs merchants are armed, so no way to sink them with surface cannon

The Tokyo Express was the name given to the nightly supply run down 'The Slot' in the Solomon Islands, from Bouganville to Guadalcanal. It was run with high-speed transports and destroyers, and was mainly intercepted by PT boats.

I don't know if it's in the game or any of the mods.

Fourth TMO 1.7 patrol for USS Seawolf, was sent to the Japan-Rabaul shipping lanes where in five days on station sank seven unescorted merchants for 42,000 tons in eight seperate attacks. Bagged three of them in one busy afternoon so the merchants are certainly out there.

Patrol five (now September 1942) on the Rabaul-Bouganville lanes is not going so well; lots of warship groups but have been unable to achieve many intercepts due to target speed and relative positions when first contacted. Those attacks I have made have been entirely unsuccessful for a variety of reasons and just had four Mk14's pass under a Naka CL without detonating. No merchants have showed up either and the warship groups are consistant in composition and courses to Tokyo Express task forces.

All in all this latest patrol is replicating all sorts of frustrating things that would likely have been common during the campaign. Well Done Modders.

TMO 1.7 RSRD

Recieved Flash Traffic: Units in the Guadalcanal area Japanese are running resupply convoys to reinforce positions on Guadalcanal (or something like that) All units in intercept range engage enemy targets.

Found myself in the slot with a group of six destroyers closing in at 31 knots Um yeah engage targets........sure.......... maybe if we get a lucky shot we can take out the lead ship before the DC's start raining down

Very bad JU-JU in the slot not just warships but flying thingies as well.

HMMMM this could make a good story to post
Spearfish against the Tokyo Express or When is it going to stop raining DC's

The Solomon campaing throughout 42 and 43 place to be with RSRD for battle, all large to small battles well scripted. Lot of Carrier action.

Let's see, so far I've seen.
Tulagi invasion group with Shoho
Port Moresby invasion fleet,..nice size
Coral Sea...the big one.
Battle of E. Solomons, nother big one.
Invasion of Lae..good place to sink some Aikoku's..spelling..
Battle of Savo..nice surface action is you time it right.
Battle of Santa Cruz...another biggy with carriers
Battle of Vella gulf, nice surface battle of dd's and CA's..

and numerous DD's running the slot and several large battle groups. Mostly they go around Tulagi and come back West in the morning. Couple Invastion fleets hit Cape Esp.
