If I'm not wrong, SH3Cmdr don't mess with the Campaign files and this way nothing will be overwrite here. And no need to do a roll back for the Weather Generator because this is a external mod.

Panama: It didnt work for you because Im a twit and made a simple spelling error in the manual value section of the code!

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Skweetis:
I DISAGREE, you managed to create this mod from scratch and that is not being a twit. You just overlooked something that's all. Thanks for creating this.

Default weather

When I generate the weather, I get a message that the campaing_SCR.mis, campaign-LND.mis and campaign_RND.mis files have been updated. My question is, which ones? Those in the SH3 data file or those in my jsgme mod folder? If my mod files are not changed, then the weather generator shouldn't work, and I can't get it to work. Is this the reason?

it edits only the ones in the SH3\Data\campaigns\campaign\ folder. It shouldnt make a difference with your MODS folder backups... unless you roll back and reinstall mods before each patrol...

SH3Cmdr doesnt overwrite the MIS files either, as far as I know...

I am using SH3Cmdr 2.4, Rub1.45 and some other graphical and sound mods all installed using the JSGME... so I cant see where the problem lies...

Have you downloaded the most recent version, available on page one of this thread? the version should be v1.02. v1.00 will NOT work at all, v1.01 doesnt work with manual settings, but v1.02 should be fine.

If you still have problems, email me the SH3Weather.log in the SH3 folder at jamie (at) trux.com.

Any chance that this Mod could be hosted anywhere other than Rapidshare?

Unfortunately at this time, no, as I am updating the versions as problems arise, I am going to wait until I have a fully stable release that the majority is happy with, and then I will submit it to SUBSIM when completed.

At this time, there is no place available that is easy for me to upload and delete old versions, so I have to use RapidShare.

Hmm... i just started a new career in 1939, and im still getting mostly 15 mps wind, from north of scotland to the coast of northern ireland and west. I have seen more weather variation apart from wind though.

I finally got the mod to work. I had opened the file with one zip extractor; when I deleted it and reinstalled it ater opening it with 7z it worked perfectly. The problem was unpacking the mod.
Is there any way to get this mod to work in mid-partol?

I have noticed in my testing that once you go into the north atlantic, the winds do seem to stay high, yet calm more when you work your way back to shore. (since SH3 came out, I have yet to return to port in high winds) perhaps its coincidence... perhaps SH3 does have some weather variation model based on location.... it is difficult to tell. But unfortunately, at this point, I have no way to affect weather beyond the settings at patrol start.

Which leads me to the next question: No, at this point, it is not possible for me to modify weather once on patrol.

And to Panama Red, thank you for your help and continued feedback on the utility's performance and functionality! I really appreciate it!

cheers all,

Jamie

Skweetis,

Some feedback after 3 patrols.
1. The last 1.02 version is working fine, manual and random one's.
2. I notice that when you use "random", almost the time the patrols start with wind set to 0, 1 or 2m/s. I think that absence of wind is a rare instance in the sea, and SH3 looks better with minimum wind between 5-7m/s. What do you think? I also understand that in the middle of the ocean the wind (and waves) are almost the time more than 4-5m/s. Maybe this is a SH3 hardcoded, but this is my suggestion: winds almost the time higher than 4-5m/s, only in rare situations less them 4m/s.
