Silent Running and saved game reloads

just read this post by lacek over at the Ubisoft's forums, oh the shame of admission

If you save the game with silent running on, you should be advised that it isn't really turned back on when you load. I know the display says it is, but it isn't. Just hit 'z' and watch what happens.

Tested it and it is TRUE!!

Thanks for the tip. I saved this morning whilst submerged with silent running on. I'll now make sure to switch it back on when I reload the game.

I've just recently mnoticed this bug, too. It show the icon for silent runnig but you'll notice that the crew doesn't talk in the hushed whispers like they do when you are running silent. I think you should try to hit the normal running button and then quickly (before the destroyers hear you) hit the silent running button. I am going to try this and see if it works.
I hear that its best to save the game surfaced and just with the save game command rather than the save and exit command. This might be one of the bugs that appears when you don't save the game this way. Are there any other bugs people know about when you save the game submerged? I've benn wondering as I don't always have the time to wait to be on the surfaced.
I've alos been wondering about ships that are slowly sinking, what happens to them on a save game? Do they continue to sink, dissappear or regain bouancy? Does anyone know?

Not only does silent running not work but you are risking a corrupted save game.

Its a known bug. Do not save games while submerged.

It's been documented many times on this forum regarding bugs when you save submerged i.e. crew appear on the bridge when under water; crash dives to the bottom (apparently linked to some weather mod); incurring damage on reload when destroyers etc are nearby when there was no damage when saved. However, so far saving submerged has had no catastrophic impact on my missions, yet. As you say mheil sometimes you have just got to save because real life issues get in the way. The only other option that has been suggested to avoid submerged saving problems is to leave your PC on and the game paused, but I'm not happy to do that.

Not sure about sinking ships when saving submerged, but when I have saved surfaced they have still been there when I have reloaded.

This has led to crashes as well.

So far --knocks on wood-- I've never had a crash, or any other negative action, if I do the following: if I have to stop in the middle of a game and have to remain submerged, I save the game, then continue the game, then pause it before tabbing up Windows and hibernating.
