A question for Lurker ~
I have been assigned a patrol in Home waters that will run through the Midway campaign. Is there any chance of intercepting the carrier div'.s as they leave home waters for the Midway battle? At the end of Dec. '41 I intercepted one Carrier Div. ~ consistent with Hiryu, Soryu, Tone and Chikuma returning from the attack on Wake Is. (unintentional?) P.S. Am running with fewer issues, now. Thanks for your attention to the CTD prob.'s

Thanks for continuing to improve the game lurker.
If it were not through your own faithful and conscientious efforts in adding "historical" accuracy to the game, then SH4 would have been a weak shadow as compared to what it is has become today largely because of your efforts. Thank you! Very well done indeed! ![]()

OK, I have downloaded RSRDC for 1.5 stock. No other mods installed except for the menu background and music from FOTRS.
After installing RSRDC for 1.5 stock, when I launch a mission My deck gun is messed up. The gun is stuck, so that when I man it the gun will not rotate. Also, the gun will not elevate. On top of this it makes an eyesore in that the gun is pointed down at the deck and is not level. I have tested this on stock 1.5 with no other mods. Anyone know a fix or is it a bug that is going to require an update to RSRDC? |

I would like to ask a question, and thats the subject of visibility and the IJN knowing where I am before I even see them.
A sub, even on the surface, is damned hard to spot but not impossible. However, a sub at periscope depth, doing no more than slow ahead (2) should not be detected except by Clark Kent at distances over 2000 yards. If at dead slow and silent (sonar) running, probably not at all over 1000 yards or less. I was detected, in a heavy rain squall, at over 1000 yards without my scope being even up! I was not using active "pings", instead listening to bearings and moving accordingly, at an intercept angle and the leading destroyer "spotted" me. I went down and he passed over at speed dropping charges 100-150 yards behind me where I estimate I had actually been when he found me. Being a bit of an expert on Capt Walker RN, I am well aquainted with his unique anti sub tactics which were not employed by the IJN.

No specific mode, mod or anything else. I am running RSRD. Its a general question and not even necessarily a bug, but a definition of programming. Sorry I cannot pin down to a specific location/time; this is a question about the whole scenario, in a bundle.

2. All and every single type of sub 3. Any and every starting date 4. any and all locations 5. Just stock vanilla v1.5 and RSRDC for 1.5. ( I have tried with the patch and without the patch and no go, does not make a difference to the deck gun problem) |

So you are running RSRDC over stock, correct?
You always get detected at PD at the stated range, or just that time? Lurker asked specific querstions for a reason. That information (date, location) would allow him to see which escort types were likely there, for example. What sensors they had (radar?). I am not sure off hand, but what if the PD-depth boat was broached by a wave trough? Radar might then pick the boat up, particularly in stock. |

Please note that with the current version of stock RSRDC ( v400 ) I'm unable to recreate your problem. Also if this was a problem with the mod I think that one of 500 people who have download the mod would have said something by now. I would recommend you check your install and conduct the same test with a "pure" stock SH4.v15. Last but not least, RSRDC does not make "any" changes to the main gun within SH4. Stock SH4 had a bug where one of the deck guns was pointed down as I recall. Anyone else remember this? Was a long time ago.
