just a quick question:
would it be possible to tweak the amount of renown earned for a ship depending of the year of the war? obviously it was more difficult to sink a ship in 1945 than in 1939

The reason is quite simple. Look at Basic.cfg, specifically the lines: NEUTRAL=-1 ALLIED=1 AXIS=-10 These are multipliers. If you sink a neutral ship, the renown is multipled by -1. Sink an enemy ship and it gets multiplied by 1 (ie no change) and sink a friendly ship and it gets multiplied by -10. Here basic mathematics applies. Thus if you set the renown to a negative value, you'll end up with the opposite effect to what you were expecting. You may remember this being highlighted by the Hospital ship quite a while ago. It's renown was set to -10000. Thus when sunk, SH3 would calculate the renown as -1 x -10000, which is +10000. So you would *gain* 10000 renown, no lose it. In other words, setting a negative renown for Axis ships will result in positive renown being awarded if sunk. |
