I don't know about Crossfire usage...

But this is what I did with SLI: After you download Probex's file, download the NHancer program (or visa versa). Once NHancer is installed, you can open Probex's file by using NHancer to open. Add it as your SH4 profile or have it overwrite your existing SH4 profile. I had already created a SH4 profile in my NVidia Control Panel so I had NHancer overwrite it.

Big increase in frames for me!

Yup. Major increase IF I turn off synchronisation (with synchronization on, there was a net loss of frames in comparison to running a single GPU), but there doesn't seem to be the horrible stuttering issue I had before when I tried to play with synchronization off. (perhaps because frames are now high enough to compensate for the synchronization problem?)

Only other factor might be I noticed multi-core support was enabled in the profile provided above.

How do I load the "flag file" into Nhancer? When I try import, it does not list the file in the directory. If I use "add", it just says "new application".

Hey Stuntcow, in your opinion, should I bother getting that second card (7800) for SLI, stick with what I've got because there will be little difference or dump the 7800 for a single 8800xx?

From a previous post:

Right click on Probex's file and "Open with" NHancer, it's pretty explanatory from there.

Unfortunately, after some more testing, I have to conclude that having SLI-enabled is causing a net loss of 4-5 frames over running with a single GPU. The synchronization issue is still present. This can be seen in watching aircraft move across the screen (they move in little jumps). Frames are indeed two or more times higher, but there is stuttering and more pronounced "tearing." This is just as true with only one GPU, so I think SLI is not a factor here (it neither solves nor causes the synchronization problem).

Does this also mean multi core CPU's are useless in SH4?

Useless? No, multi-core processors work just fine. Unfortunately you're not going to enjoy a benefit performance wise though, as SH4 is not a true multithreaded application. Hopefully things will change with a future version of SHx.

Thanks Flintlock, "multithreaded application" is what I was thinking of. I know, as in the case of MS Flight Simulator X, that feature can be added via a Service Pack to a game that did not have that capability before. But I suppose since SH4 is based on SH3, this cant be done.

I think that those monoliths also explode your Torps if you shoot one through it, lol

I can't ever see them, but my torps explode in the same spot sometimes even though they are set to contact detonation only.

Not just your torps. If you inadvertantly sail into one with Bernard at the helm:

This can happen:

I just remembered that in my SLI profile I gave you guys, I was playing with the LOD values and I set it to -3. I don't think that it did anything, and if you choose to enable Anisotropic, you should set the LOD back to Zero.
