As mentioned previously, no joy.

It must be vendor-specific, then.

Which sucks. I rather like my card. HDR+FSAA in 'Oblivion' FTW! (Oh, well, maybe I'll be upgrading to a GeForce 8600 after all, then. Needs my HDR+FSAA, but also want Sh4 to look good! And only have a single slot for a video card, so... )

No sun glare here either. X1900XTX, Catalyst 7.3 beta.

I'm also pissed Overdrive doesn't work with this game since performance isn't what it should be. I've tried to attract ATI's attention to this issue over at Rage3D, but the Mod keeps telling me there's nothing to do about it.

It's especially irritating, as I'd bought ATI back in this day specifically for its superior support of Sh3 (one of the reasons, obviously there were others)...and here comes Sh4 and ATI is the WRONG choice of the two.

AAAAARRRRGGGH!!!

Yep, I have the same issue.

I thought it might be because I do not have 'Enviromental Effects' checked. But I guess that's not the problem, I guess it's my ATI card. I wonder, is it only a problem with the latest Catalyst drivers? I have Catalyst 7.2's installed and so far everyone has reported that's what their using too, other than 'DaWizeGuy' who is using 7.3 beta. I suppose going back a version or two of Cat's probably wouldn't make any difference.

Current card: X800 XT

Soon: HIS X1950 Pro 512 MB AGP (if my PSU can handle it)

Default Sun Glare effect broken with ATI X800 + latest Cat. !!!

I noticed that the sun glare effects are not working on my System at all....
I've read some similar posts some time ago, but all went down the ladder with not many people replying.

My questions:

Does anybody else notice the same problem....(totally lack of sun glare!!!)

Is it an ATI specific problem...

Does anybody know how to fix it, or is this a well known bug and is present to the devs and they will hopefully fix it...

My specs:

P IV 3 GHZ
875PBZ
2 Gig MDT DDR400
X800XT AIW
XP Pro
Latest Cat. Drivers

Greets and thanks in advance...

I would suggest that some of us having this problem should also post in the official 1.1
bug thread here on subsim and if possible also at the official UBI forums 1.1 bug thread to make this bug noticed...

I've done so....

Now let's hope for a fix....

Greetz....

Tried CAT 6.12 and 6.7 as tests for older driver software....

Doesn't work either....no sun glare....

It's definitly an ATI cards related issue in my opinion and must be known by the Devs already, cause it must have also occured on their machines, exept they all use and test only on nvidia based platforms

...which I don't believe, cause as Developer of PC Games you should verifiy that major eyecandy features are available on both main gfx card developers products...

Maybe the problem is only related to ATI's driver software, but at least sun glare effects worked in shIII with ATI based systems , so I don't see why it shouldn't work in shIV....but I'm no graphics programmer....don't even know a little thing about it....

Well, let's see

As I have said above I get the problem, strange thing is that other things are ok like the reflections on the water, and reflections on the side of ships but it's just seems with the sun whilst panning a view.

ATI x1300 user and I get no glare. It comes up at times but slowly goes away in a few seconds. This happened to me exactly the same way with SH3, but I was using a Gforce card back then! Also, I noticed that smoke looks funny when viewing it close-up above the horizon, not at or below the horizon. :hmm:

Interestingly, I was playing Sh3 just recently (jumped back from playing Sh4 due to all the bugs), and was amazed to see the MASSIVE sun glare on my ATI card.

I had thought (incorrectly, of course), that the glare was ONLY available when bloom was enabled (IE., no use of FSAA). However, I had FSAA completely cranked in Sh3, no 'bloom', and still had the sun glare.

No-go in Sh4, no matter what I try, though.

Not getting the the amazing sun glare either! Bummer!!!
Running ATI x800GTO on catalyst 7.2!

Seems it is definitly a ATi related BUG.
This should be top priority in the 1.2 patch!

Any ATI users getting the right sun glare?
