Just been looking at the GWX site, and to be honest the installation process seems quite complex and complicated.I don't want to ruin anything just yet.
I think I'll look into GWX 2.1 at a later date.
Thanks anyhow.

It's really not as complicated as it looks. I was pretty afraid to do it myself(I'm no computer wiz) but I did it fine with no problems. In fact, I did it twice. The first time I thought something was wrong afterwards because my career save took so long to load. I totally uninstalled SH3 and GWX2.1 and started from scratch.
Same thing happened and I thought something was wrong. I asked for advice on this forum and they basically said "Patience!" GWX takes a lot longer to load a career save because of all the extra ships added to the game.

So give it a try. There is plenty of expert help on this site for any help....(paging jimbuna, paging jimbuna)

@ Paul Riley

I had similar problems, but solved them by uninstalling totally - uninstalling using the SH3 Dvd uninstall option; manually deleting all remaining SH3 files and folders (including those in "My Documents");running a good file and registry cleaning programme and re-booting. Then I started the install again from scratch.

I've made it a practice to check each stage of the new install for playability - e.g. I run a mission in stock SH3, then each of the patches after I've installed them.

Once you get to version 1.4, GWX is easy. Just download GWX 2 in its entirity (7 .bin files + a .exe file) and click on the .exe file.

Chedck for playability, then do the same for GWX 2.1.

Honestly, you don't know what you're missing.

Thought I'd mention I've got a tube malfunctioning torpedo tube I can't seem to reload tube 1 after firing the fish. I'm sure it's not my rubbish mouse skills as I managed to reload the other three tubes after a convoy attack without incidence.

Just to give you a little nudge because I felt the same way.....

On the outside it looked complicated to me because there was 7+ large files to download but its actually really easy. Just download all the parts to a file you created (EG: "GWX" located on your desktop) and then run the GWX2.0.exe, check install path is correct and let it do its thing. Make sure to get the 2.1 patch and install it after 2.0.

Your done... the longest/hardest part was waiting for all the parts to download.

In the end it was one of the easyiest mods Ive ever installed and well worth it.

I too have experienced the overly slow to dive.... by the time i figured it out i was rocketed half to death, and was going for the Rambo look blazing away at the mosquitos!'

Paul Riley, I can say hand on the heart that downloading/installing the mod is not as daunting as you may fear, im a computer illiterate but it was not too tough at all
